It is very common for fish to have parasites. I have seen thoee worms while seining in creeks.-I probaboy spelled that wrong. It is crucial that fish is cooked to proper temps before consuming. If you are a fan of sushi you need to make sure that the fish has been in a deep freeze for the requisit amount of time required to kill parasites.

"I know what the blood line is, when I was filleting the skin off the catfish what I found on the belly fillet was twirled up under the skin,it was red (some sort of worm parasite). I've filleted lots of catfish and this was some sort of parasite.

I will admit that is funky looking, but I don't think I would have pitched my catch over it. As long as you cooked it to the right temp, it would have been rendered immobilized and no threat. Have you ever seen the worm like things in clams (clear, long, kinda stiff)? As long as you pull them out before you fry or cook them, they pose no danger. And I'll bet most restaurants don't even bother to pull them.

OC OC OC, I don't know about you. Just about every fish known to man has a bloodline running through it. I'd hate to see what you'd decide to do with a perfectly good bluefish if you found a red line running through it.
