Home Heating oil and gas prices needs laws to protect them from gauging

Gas is going to be cheap right now because it isn't peak season for the companies. They have an abundance of it they are just looking to get rid of. Once the month changes though, the prices are going to start rising. I had to buy heating oil last year and we only bought 125 gallons (we have a 500 gallon tank) and that was about $500. I think we were charged a fee as well for not filling the whole thing, but I wasn't going to pay over $1,000 for heating oil.
Don't use G&B though. They ended up blowing out about 5 gallons of fuel and we still were charged for it

Natural gas is the least expensive way to go but they ain't digging up 30 more feet of a rich man's back yard just so a poor man can have cheap energy. It can be stored in cryogenic tanks in liquefied form (LGN) but there's the possibilty of an earthquake (yep caused by fracking the tankful of gas) rupturing the tank with the subsequent explosion and fireball unequaled since the propane tanks blew at Smoot Park.

Have been with G&B over 20 years. On autofill. He came by other day. I needed 20% . He didn't fill it up. I got a bill less than two weeks later for tank rental. Never happened before. I apparently didn't use enough so they making up difference

Yes they will charge a tank rental fee if you don't use enough gas to suit them. They tried to pull that with me an I left really quick. Thompsons Gas has startd that as well but are warning all their customers first. The lady at their office in N Wilkesboro told me this last week. So I wouldn't be surprised when I got the letter. I am fine with it. Heck it's only 4 dollars a month.
But I do use gas for drying clothes, cooking, heating, and my tankless hot water heater. The best thing about Thompson's is they have budget pay and with that you don't get charged any interest on what you owe.

Gauging? Gauging. Ok. Did you mean gouging? I'm perfectly happy w/ the $2 / gallon I just paid. Maybe you need to be a better shopper?

I guess now they come back and charge at inflated price plus the $50.00 few they all of a sudden billed me

Thompson gas That's their price for owning your own tank. Gas right now is about as low as it will go.

The chain distributors, G@B, Ferrell etc.. are stepping up ways to charge. Inflating the true price drastically

If you own chicken houses in Wilkes, you can buy propane for a third the cost than a person pays to heat a home for the kids. Oh yea. Bulk is cheaper they will say. Competition, for bigger sales is the game

Oh, that this would happen, but it won't; the oil industry has free reign.

Enough over charging, finding fees to charge. North Carolina needs a group to monitor the oil and gas companies that heat our homes.
